Recycling Workshops

OLC has been delivering arts workshops for over 5 years and constantly uses recycled materials to develop creative ideas. It is the organisations’ ethos to do this.

St Matthews GirlsIn 2016 we began delivering a series of innovative, recycling workshops in partnership with WARP Liverpool to fulfil many of the organisation’s priorities:

  • Artistic excellence
  • Inventiveness
  • Saving the environment
  • Creative Science
  • Recycling
  • Learning through play and exploration

We have been delivering the highly popular recycling assemblies and workshops in Clubmoor ward as part of our work with the Localities Officer and the Ward Councillors in five primary schools in the area. Looking at the problems with waste, the importance of recycling and how to make new things from old. Like magic, “turning something into something new”.

Some of the things that the children have been making are:

  • Hover Crafts from old CDs and Sport’s bottle tops powered by balloons
  • plastic bottle cars powered by elastic bands
  • What can we make from a plastic milk carton/bottle?
  • badges from left over pieces of scraplings.
